In book 4 of the Iliad, why does Hera want the fighting to continue rather than Zeus' plan of ending the war?
Her judgments were clouded by the grudges she holds against the Trojans. First, the title "fairest of them all" was given to Aphrodite(who supported the Trojans) instead of her. Then Zeus favored another Trojan prince, Ganymede, to be Olympus' cupbearer instead of Hebe, their own daughter. She has invested so much in the Achaean(Greek) cause that she is afraid of losing it all for some peace-treaty. Keep in mind that Hera was a highly vengeful goddess, quite an irony considering she is the protector of life.
