Looking for info on how to legally get minor removed from house. he is 17 yrs old, will turn 18 in August.?

he is disrespectful, ungrateful, and very troubled. he is on probatiion but they have done nothing but talk to him. the cops say there is not much we can do unless he hits one of us. im affraid he will hit his mom and or siblings. He admitted to his PO that he smokes pot, and drinks. still nothing. we checked and got info on Rehab. feel like it is not the answer cause by the time we can get him in he would be closer to 18 and be able to leave the programm. so the only other course of action right now is to remove him from the house. so how do we make him leave but not be legal responsible for him. any info would be appreciated. thank you. we live in california.
